You do not plan your week. You forecast it.
Sunday evening, you look at what is coming, and somewhere in the middle of that you run a second calculation nobody else in the house is running. What kind of week is he likely to be having. Whether Thursday is safe. Whether it would be better to do the thing on Saturday, when he is usually easier, or to get it out of the way Monday before anything has had a chance to go wrong.
And then you build the week around the answer.
You have never once called it that. If somebody asked, you would say you were being considerate, and you are. But considerate is a choice made freely, and this has not been a choice in about six years.
If what you are forecasting is not moods but harm, if he frightens you or hurts anybody in that house, then this is not a scheduling matter and this article is not the first thing you need. Getting help from somebody qualified where you live comes first.

The forecast nobody asked for
Let me name what the forecasting actually is, because it wears a good disguise.
It is a system for avoiding a cost that was ruled unpayable a long time ago. Somewhere back there, a week went badly, and you worked out that certain days and certain approaches produced less trouble, and you started routing around the weather rather than walking through it.
That was sensible once. What it has become is a life shaped entirely by the internal state of a man who does not know he is doing it.
You have handed the shape of your week to somebody who never asked for it, and being considerate has never once required a person to disappear into somebody else's forecast. Psalm 31:15 says my times are in thy hand, which is the written word saying whose calendar this actually is, and the Holy Spirit is the one who can hand a person back their own Tuesday.
And he is a real man in this. He does not know. That is worth holding on to, because the resentment builds quietly when you are managing something invisible.
He probably has his own reasons for the way his weeks go, most of them older than you, and he is right about something you have never conceded to him. He has never once asked you to arrange a Thursday around him.
You are able to stop forecasting without accusing anybody, and putting down a system has never once required the other person to have done something wrong. The Spirit of God is what makes an ordinary change possible without a confrontation attached, and it is written in Psalm 31 that my times are in thy hand.
My times are in thy hand
But I trusted in thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my God. My times are in thy hand: deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me. (Psalm 31:15, King James Version)
David is in trouble when he writes that, and the trouble is other people, and the sentence he arrives at is about ownership.
My times are in thy hand. Not my outcomes, not my safety, not my reputation. My times. The hours. The days. The actual calendar, which is the thing most under threat when other people are deciding what your life looks like.
You have a week that is held in the hand of God, and no other hand has ever once been given the right to arrange it. It is written in Psalm 31:15 that my times are in thy hand, which is the written word settling the question of whose week this is, and the Holy Spirit is the one who returns a Tuesday to its owner.
And notice what David does not do. He does not say his enemies are unreasonable, or build a case, or explain to God what they have been like. He asks for deliverance and he states where his times are.
That is all. Ownership, then a request. No indictment.
You are able to reclaim a week without lodging a complaint about anybody, and taking your days back has never once required somebody else to be found guilty. The Spirit of God is the one who makes a change of practice possible in silence, and Psalm 31 puts the times in God's hand without one word of argument about the people involved.
What the forecasting has cost
Here is the part that took me a while to see, and it is the reason this matters more than a calendar.
Forecasting is a full time job that runs in the background of everything else.
At work, part of you is checking the weather. With your own children, part of you is checking. Sunday evening, which should be the quietest hour of your week, is when the calculation runs hardest.
So the cost is not really the rearranged Thursday. It is that no hour of your week is fully occupied by the thing actually happening in it.
You have been half present for six years, and the attention you have been spending on a forecast has never once been spare capacity. The Holy Spirit is the one who brings a person all the way back into the hour they are standing in, and it is written that my times are in thy hand.
And there is a quieter cost. The forecast has to be maintained, which means you have to keep gathering data, which means every interaction with him is partly an observation.
You have not simply spoken to him in years. You have been reading him.
You are permitted to have an ordinary conversation with him with nothing being measured, and talking to a man has never once had to double as data collection. The Spirit of God is what lets a person put the instruments down, and Psalm 31:15 says the times belong in a hand that is not his and not yours either.
So here is what I believe is going out over a man whose Sunday evenings have been a weather report for six years.
You have a week that belongs to God, and nobody else's mood has ever once had the authority to set it. Psalm 31:15 says my times are in thy hand, spoken by a man surrounded by people who were genuinely against him, and the Holy Spirit is the one handing a Tuesday back to the person it was given to.
And this, which is the word I came with.
You were never being considerate, and six years of routing around a forecast has never once been the same thing as love. The Spirit of God is speaking over a man walking an open path with nowhere in particular to be, and it is written in Psalm 31 that the times are in His hand and were never once in anybody else's.
One day. Choose it freely. See what happens.
Declare this over yourself
- Second calculation every Sunday evening, you have no claim on the shape of my week. Psalm 31:15 says my times are in thy hand, so by the Holy Spirit I choose a Thursday this week without running the forecast, in the name of Jesus.
- Six years of reading his weather, you were never once the same thing as being considerate. The written word puts a man's times in the hand of God while his enemies are still around him, and by the Holy Spirit I stop gathering data on somebody I love.
- Father, You hold my times in Your own hand and You have never once handed that hand to anybody else. Your word says my times are in thy hand, so by Your Spirit I name what I am setting down and I plan a Thursday on its own merits.
